The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has raised the issue on the ban imposed by the Mumbai police on construction works after 10 pm.

At the review meeting with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the civic body commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal requested the state government to put such restrictions on hold as it was affecting the disposal of debris from the sites.

The ban has been badly affecting the disposal of the debris and could lead to the major problem during monsoon.

The Mumbai police chief Sanjay Pandey have been asked to put the order on hold till May 31, until the desilting of the culverts and nullahs are complete ahead of monsoon.

In the meeting, Thackeray also took stock of the pre-monsoon works. Thackeray reportedly conducted a meeting with representatives of a range of agencies that include the likes of the BMC, Mumbai Metro, MMRDA and MHADA.

According to a statement released by the CMO mentioned that Thackeray had also directed the authorities to ensure that the ongoing infrastructure works do not lead to waterlogging during the monsoon. He has also asked them to complete the ongoing Metro works underway in Kandivali before monsoon and filling of the potholes well in time. The authorities have also been asked to take steps to avoid breeding of mosquitoes.

CM also instructed all of them to complete their work on debris and silt removal by May 31 in order to ensure that waterlogging does not transpire during Mumbai rains.

It has been reported that a presentation was given by the BMC administrator Iqbal Singh Chahal in regards to the works being done by the agencies and their latest progress. Following this, Thackeray told the MMRDA and the BMC to clear 450 sites of debris by May 31.
