Maharashtra records 12,822 cases of COVID-19; highest single day spike

Maharashtra, on Saturday, August 8, witnessed 12,822 fresh cases of the coronavirus which propelled the state’s COVID-19 tally to 5,03,084. This is the first time the state happened to witness over 12,000 cases in the span of a single day.

Moreover, there are 9,89,612 people under home quarantine while 35,625 are in institutional quarantine. The state also reported 275 people succumbing to the deadly disease. On the other hand, the number of recoveries in the state reached 3.38 lakh, including 11,081 recoveries in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate in Maharashtra now stands at 67.26 per cent.

In the state’s capital Mumbai, 1,304 fresh cases of the coronavirus were recorded on Saturday, taking the COVID-19 tally to 1,22,331 cases.
