On Monday, state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is slated to chair an important meeting of Maharashtra’s COVID-19 taskforce, reported the ANI.

This meeting comes after the state Health Minister, Rajesh Tope elaborated on how the Chief Minister alongside the health department, as well as the task force, will undertake the decision on whether or not to relax the COVID-19 restrictions in Maharashtra after the Diwali festivities.
In the meantime, the state recorded 1,715 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours. With this, the aggregate active cases in Maharashtra are at 28,631, according to the health bulletin by the state on Sunday. On the other hand, the city of Mumbai, on Sunday logged zero coronavirus fatalities for the first time since March 26, 2020, which was the beginning of the pandemic.
In other developments, on Sunday the BMC commissioner, Iqbal Singh Chahal stated that almost 97% of the city’s adult population have been administered at least the first jab, with nearly 55% being fully vaccinated. He added that the 100% mark could be attained in the coming days, whilst another official from the civic authority saying it may take longer than that and it is likely to happen by the end of the month.
