Good news cinemagoers! Henceforth, one will not have to spend exorbitant money i.e ₹250 to ₹300 on popcorn that is worth ₹50 to ₹100.

State minister Ravindra Chavhan said that post-August 1, 2018, theatre/multiplex owners will have to sell food items at MRP. He made this statement in the Monsoon session of Maharashtra Assembly, Nagpur.

MNS' Protest

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had protested against theatre owners for selling food items at exorbitant rates. They did in their MNS style (hooliganism) and threatened the owners to sell food items at MRP rates. After this, the theatre owners association met MNS Chief Raj Thackeray and asked for some time to come to a conclusion.

HC Slams Multiplex/Theatre Owners

The Bombay High Court had slammed the owners over high-priced food items and had ordered the same to lower the rates.
