On July 8, Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid had been appointed as the Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

The former cricketer was supposed to take over as NCA head July 1 onwards but due to his job at India Cements, the appointment was delayed.

Accordingly, the Committee of Administrators (CoA) had asked Dravid to quit his post as vice-president of India Cements or be on leave until he completes his tenure. After which, India Cements then sent him on leave to avoid conflict of interest.

"Mr. Dravid will oversee all cricket-related activities at NCA and will be involved in mentoring, coaching, training and motivating players, coaches and support staff at the NCA," BCCI said in a release.

The release further added that Dravid would work with National Men’s and Women’s head coaches as well along with the India A, India U-19, and India U-23 teams for ‘the identification of key training and development objectives’.

Meanwhile, BCCI hasn’t specified the tenure of Dravid’s appointment. Alongside, the former Indian Test legend will be responsible for monitoring the progress of the developmental teams, i.e. India A, India U-19, and India U-23, while working with the senior teams.
