A task force was constituted in Maharashtra, headed by Dr Raghunath Mashelkar to examine the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. On Tuesday, they submitted their report to the state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. The CM then stated that the state government will embrace provisions promptly to ensure that the state is foremost when it comes to education, highlighted a report by the Hindustan Times.

In addition to this, he also proclaimed that the government would concentrate on ingenious ideas in academics since it is the need of the hour. Shortly, the report will be presented before the state cabinet.

Although last July the NEP 2020 was approved by the Centre, the Maharashtra government did not implement it promptly. Instead, in October 2020, they formed an 18-member team spearheaded by Dr Raghunath Mashelkar to examine the policy and provide recommendations to the state.

The CM believes that education is a pivotal concept and shapes the future generation. He said that education is going to be a prominent part of the post coronavirus recovery since academics paves the way for employment. With the coronavirus pandemic prompting work from home and online learning, Thackeray thinks it should be taken ahead.

In a statement, he said that all steps will be undertaken to ensure that Maharashtra is on the journey of academic progress through the prompt implementation of the task force’s recommendation. Online education is important in developing times, but it needs the development of requisite infrastructure. It is also important that the burden on school bags be reduced. With altering times, online learning and learning in various languages such as English and German are essential too, he said, mentioned the narrative.

He also elucidated that, children can grasp what they are taught quicker if done through the mediums of animation, creative visuals. Thus, he thinks, it is essential that importance be given to these ingenious ideas, stated the account.
