A Mumbai artist made a world record by creating a mosaic portrait of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the occasion of his birth anniversary as per the Hindu calendar. The artist, Nitin Dinesh Kamble, works as a high-tech animator in a private company. Kamble created the 10X8 feet portrait in 10 days using 46,080 plastic bits of six different colours.

"I have made a portrait of Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj. I have used 46,080 plastic bits to make it. In India, there is a ban on plastic but there is not a lot we can do about the plastic that is already in the market," Kamble told ANI.

Kamble added that he wanted to do something good and presentable with plastic. The Mumbai animator works full-time and therefore, he had to spend his nights to create the portrait. The portrait was finished in ten days and the raw material for which was brought from Bhubaneshwar. However, Kamble had coloured it in six different colours by himself.

"This portrait has been registered in the World Records India. This is my first world record. I want to do more for our freedom fighters in the future because I feel like the younger generation should know about them and take inspiration," he added.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is one of the most prominent historical figures in Maharashtra. He was a warrior-king of Bhonsle Maratha clan. Throughout his lifetime, Shivaji engaged in both alliances and hostilities with the Mughal Empire, Sultanate of Golkonda and Sultanate of Bijapur, as well as European colonial powers. He was the pioneer in establishing the Maratha Empire in Maharashtra.

March 12 was celebrated as Shiv Jayanti this year by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and the party chief, Raj Thackeray also held a special event for the same.
