The Hutatma Smarak that stands witness to political and social transition in not only the city but also in the state will now be known as the Hutatma Smarak Chowk. The BMC has given a green signal to the change of name of this historical place.
MNS group leader in the BMC, Dilip Lande, had suggested the change in the name of Hutatma Smarak and proposed adding of Chowk in the name. The BMC general body passed the suggestion on Monday. Now, the Hutatma Smarak would now officially be known as ‘Hutatma Smarak Chowk’. The area earlier was known as the Flora Fountain.
