CST - “The BJP is behind action against permitted stalls of hawkers,” alleged AAP leader Priti Menon in a press conference held at Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh here on Tuesday. The BMC’s anti-encroachment squad had taken action against stalls on the Bandra Linking Road even after a stay issued by the High Court. This action has resulted in the death of a person and a police case should be registered against the officer responsible for this, demanded Menon. The BMC does not act against posh societies like Campacola and all the political parties support such people. But no political leader has come forward to protest this action against the licensed vendors, she further added.
The AAP leader also alleged that city BJP president Ashish Shelar is behind this action as minority community had not voted for him in the last assembly election. She has also threatened to take out a morcha on February 8 to protest this action of the BMC. The victims of the BMC’s act of demolition have decided to meet Yuva Sena president Aditya Thackeray on February 13 in this regard, informed Menon.
