Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ashish Shelar on Tuesday slammed the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government saying that the government didn’t take permission from the Salt Commissioner to transfer the Metro 3 car shed from Aarey to Kanjurmarg.

While accusing the state government of delaying every project and misleading people, Shelar said that the Mumbaikars were suffering due to Maharashtra Chief Minster Uddhav Thackeray’s arrogance.

“We opposed the shifting of the metro car shed from Aarey to Kanjurmarg. The state government needs to be certain and should check the legal status again. Did they take permission from the Salt Commissioner? Mumbaikars will not be benefited from the arrogance of the Chief Minister,” Shelar asserted.

His remarks come after the central government ordered to stop the work of the Metro 3 car shed at Kanjurmarg. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) wrote to the Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar saying that the land allocated at Kanjurmarg belongs to the Union government.

The Union government has requested the Maharashtra Chief Secretary to restrain the Mumbai Metro Rail Development Authority (MMRDA) to stop the construction of the metro car shed.

The location for the Metro 3 car shed has been a controversy since the Devendra Fadnavis government was in power. The activists have opposed the construction of the car shed in Aarey saying that it is a forest.

The Maharashtra government had recently announced that the car shed will be shifted to the government’s land in Kanjurmarg and no cost will be incurred for the purpose.
