On Wednesday, November 18, Ram Kadam, the BJP MLA, was detained by the Mumbai Police as he attempted to protest regarding the Palghar lynching case.

Kadam had earlier took to Twitter to inform that on November 18, a procession is to take place from Khar Niwas to Palghar massacre site in a bid to transfer the case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Demanding a CBI probe into the Palghar mob lynching incident, Ram Kadam along with other BJP supporters, gathered outside his residence in Khar, holding banners and black flags to march towards Palghar.

Back in the month of April, three priests were lynched to death by a mob of 200 people in Gadchinchle in Maharashtra's Palghar district, allegedly suspecting the victims to be thieves. As per reports, the deceased men were identified as Sushilgiri Maharaj, Chikne Maharaj Kalpavriksha Giri and Nilesh Telwade. The men were reportedly pelted stones at and beaten with sticks and rods, after being dragged out of their car.

However, the police force has been deployed outside the BJP MLA’s residence in view of the situation. Mumbai Police has further claimed that that Kadam was not granted the permission to take out the rally. However, in spite of the police deployment, Kadam stated that he was determined to stage the protest against the mob lynching case, till he was detained.

The BJP MLA had earlier written a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray demanding the transfer of the Palghar mob lynching case to the CBI as there is "no satisfactory development" with regards to the case. "Such kind of incidents is basically an attack on Hindu sadhus on the land of Maharashtra, which cannot be tolerated, at any cost and has sparked off a national outrage amongst people. My kind request is to hand over the Palghar case to the Central Bureau of Investigation for a more competent and fair probe in this sensitive case" Kadam had further added.
