In the two-day special Maharashtra legislative assembly session, a prominent development that occurred was the new state government's declaration that it would soon take a decision to reduce VAT on diesel and petrol. Thus, it is anticipated that petrol and diesel prices will come down in the near future.

Apart from the fact that the Eknath Shinde government was able to prove its majority, former Deputy Chief Minister, NCP's Ajit Pawar was made the Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly. The same was reportedly proposed by NCP Legislative party leader Jayant Patil which was then approved by the Assembly.

Additionally, the newly elected Maharashtra Chief Minister broke down while remembering his family in the assembly. He was quoted elaborating on how when he was working as a Shiv Sena corporator in Thane, he lost two of his children and thought everything was over. He added that while he was broken, Anand Dighe convinced him to continue in politics.

Further, he elucidated that they are all "Shiv Sainiks" and will always be so of Balasaheb Thackeray and Dighe. He was quoted saying, "I want to remind you all who was there who got Bala Saheb's voting banned for 6 years."

Shinde articulated that earlier he was to be made the CM in the MVA government, however, later, Ajit Pawar or someone mentioned that it should not happen. Shinde alleged that he had no problem and told Uddhav Thackeray to go ahead. He claimed that he never eyed the post and was with Thackeray.
