Following barbs made by Shiv Sena President and ex-Maharashtra CM, Uddhav Thackeray, the newly appointed CM Eknath Shinde took a swipe at Thackeray. He did so by tweeting, "The speed of the Mercedes has paled compared to the speed of the auto-rickshaw. That is because this is the government of the common man."
रिक्षाच्या स्पीडपुढे मर्सिडीजचा स्पीड फिका पडला.. कारण हे सर्वसामान्यांचं सरकार!!#MaharashtraFirst

Shinde's comment comes in the aftermath of a statement made by Thackeray to party workers in regards to Shinde's impassioned speech in the Maharashtra assembly on Monday, July 4. Thackeray reportedly uttered, "Yesterday, the auto-rickshaw was at full speed. It had no brake. Many people looked tensed if there would be an accident." This is claimed to be a reference to Shinde who was previously a rickshaw driver.
On the other hand, the newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday, July 5 visited his hometown Nagpur. Here he reminded those ridiculing Shinde's past, of the Congress party's fate when its members called PM Modi a "chaiwala".
Fadnavis was quoted elucidating that look at what Modi did to them. He added that they are proud that their leaders who come from modest backgrounds aren't born with a golden spoon. He voiced that their government is of the common man like rickshaw drivers or paan kiosk owners.
