Amid Rafale deal chaos, Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday attacked Congress President Rahul Gandhi accusing the party of misleading the people by making false corruption allegations in Rafale jet purchase. Sitharaman further said that Congress is demanding Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for political gain only.

Earlier in its verdict on Rafale deal case, the Supreme Court gave a ‘clean chit’ to Modi government stating that the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report on Rafale jets purchase was submitted to Public Accounts Committee (PAC). This created a chaos in Parliament as the opposition says that the report was not submitted to PAC and Congress demanded JPC probe into the matter.

Amid the chaos, Modi government said that there was a “typo” in their arguments. While speaking to the media, the Defence Minister said that Congress is spreading its propaganda as they don’t have anything substantial.
