Amid the questions being raised against Mumbai Police in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput Case, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray jumped in to defend the Mumbai police assuring that those found guilty will be punished.

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai apartment in Bandra on June 14. The Bihar Police recently registered an FIR under sections 340, 342, 380, 406, 420, 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and some of the charges include embezzlement, abetment to suicide, cheating and conspiracy.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s father has accused actor Rhea Chakraborty of interfering and discouraging him in his decisions to buy properties and sign films, stole cash and other valuables while questioning the transfer of ₹15 crores from Sushant’s account into an unrelated account.

Meanwhile, questions are being raised over the efficiency of Mumbai Police in handling the case. In order to defend the city police, CM Thackeray said that Mumbai Police is not inefficient and appealed the people to not use this case as an excuse to create friction between Maharashtra and Bihar.

“Mumbai Police is not inefficient… if anyone has any evidence they can bring it to us and we will interrogate and punish the guilty. Please don’t use this case as an excuse to create friction between Maharashtra and Bihar,” the Chief Minister said.

Thackeray further said bringing politics in the case is the most deplorable thing to do. The suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput has become a national issue and several developments in the case have generated demands on social media that the case is transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Along with Thackeray, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has also condemned the demand to transfer this case to the central investigation agency.
