On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray alerted the people to not forget their social responsibilities of wearing face masks and avoiding crowds while welcoming Lord Ganesh.

He also added that he prayed to Lord Ganesha to rid the world of the coronavirus outbreak on the auspicious first day of the 10-day festival.

Speaking about the measures that are to be taken in the state in view of the festivities during the pandemic, Thackeray stated that all the Divisional Commissioners, District Collectors, Chief Executive Officers of Zila Parishads, Municipal Commissioners, District Superintendents of Police and District Surgeons have been consulted recently and instructions have been given to them in order to deal with the situation.

Whether it is the arrival or the immersion of Lord Ganesha, it is essential for everyone to make sure that the coronavirus does not spread in the homes, alleys and colonies of the state, the CM further opined.

Moreover, he congratulated the public Ganesh Mandals who are planning to conduct social awareness and health camps, adding that it would be more convenient for the public Ganesh Mandals to take up social, enlightening messages through Ganeshotsav and also provide online darshan facility. Furthermore, Thackeray thanked these boards for following the rules laid down by the state government.
