On Wednesday, the Goa cabinet informed that Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will be travelling to the US for further treatment for his pancreatic ailment. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) officials have confirmed that his family wanted doctors at New York to treat the CM and hence, he will be flying directly from Mumbai to New York.

One of the senior BJP functionaries said that it was the family’s personal decision and people should respect the choice of medical attention.

On August 23, Parrikar was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital for a review health checkup, a day after he returned from the US. He then returned to the state with the ashes of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and was in the state for a day. Soon after, he returned to Mumbai for further treatment.
