Amid the ongoing rift between Bollywood Actress Kangana Ranaut and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra, Independent MP Navneet Rana has demanded the resignation of Shiv Sena chief spokesperson Sanjay Raut over his remarks against the actress.
Earlier, while talking to the media, Raut had called Kangana a ‘haramkhor ladki’ which caused a huge outrage. However, the Shiv Sena MP later defended his remarks saying that his statement has been taken out of context. “In Marathi, ‘haramkhor’ means ‘baemaan’ or naughty,” Raut claimed.
Reacting to this, Rana requested Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to either support Raut or take his resignation for “insulting” the female artist. In a video posted on Facebook, the Independent MP from Amravati also attacked the state government for demolishing Kangana’s office in Bandra.
“When she replies, you take action against her. What culture is this culture to insult a woman?” Rana asked while adding that the action of demolishing a part of Kangana’s office was not necessary.
“During COVID-19 outbreak, it was not necessary to demolish Kangana Ranaut’s office. There was no emergency and there should be a procedure which should be followed. Politics of Mumbai and Maharashtra is going in a different direction,” Rana said.
However, Raut has refuted the allegation of Shiv Sena being associated with the demolition action. He said that the decision to demolish Kangana’s office in Pali Hill was taken by the BMC.
Raut had earlier said that he never threatened the actress but only expressed his anger against her as she compared Mumbai to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK). “The matter is over for me,” he added.
