Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari will hold a review meeting with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday evening to discuss the COVID-19 situation in the state.

In the high-level meeting, Governor Koshyari along with Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray will review the COVID-19 situation and will review various measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus. Moreover, the focus will also be to discuss the challenges to tackle the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Chief Secretary Ajoy Mehta, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal along with secretaries of various departments, among others will participate in the meeting at Raj Bhavan this evening.

This meeting comes a day after senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis submitted a memorandum to highlight the “inefficient handling” of COVID-19 situation by the Shiv Sena-led MVA government.

After meeting the Governor on Tuesday, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Devendra Fadnavis said that the state government has completely failed over several fronts including the handling of COVID-19 situation and migrant workers’ crisis.

“There is the issue of massive neglect of migrant workers and farmers in Maharashtra are facing various troubles. There is a complete collapse of the health system,” former Maharashtra CM tweeted in Marathi while alleging that the MVA government was hiding COVID-19 patients data and was not following the protocol for deaths related to the virus.

The senior BJP leader also demanded a special economic package for Maharashtra on the lines of the one announced by the centre. Furthermore, Fadnavis questioned whether the administration in Maharashtra exists or not.

Maharashtra has 37,136 COVID-19 cases while the death toll has reached 1,325. In Mumbai alone, the number of cases has risen to 22,746 and the death toll in the city has climbed up to 800. However, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Tuesday informed that a total of 9,639 patients are cured and discharged from the hospitals in the state.
