The world has been waiting for the coronavirus vaccine, as over the last few months, nations have been fighting the pandemic with an aim to curb the spread and save lives. Several vaccines are being tried in India and are hoped to be launched soon.

Sharing his thought on the same, Maharashtra State Health Minister, Rajesh Tope said, COVID-19 vaccine trials are underway in other parts of the world, as well as in India and there has been a lot of buzz about the nation which will have the first vaccine for COVID-19. However, questions are being raised if they'll first be available for influential people and will the general public get the vaccine only after that? Will the situation be the same in Maharashtra too?

Addressing these concerns, he responded that no matter what the demand is, vaccine, when launched, will first be available for COVID warriors and not Politicians, entrepreneurs, celebrities or any other influential person. The ruled out these possibilities and clarified the rumours.

Emphasising on the vaccine testing in India, he said that the trials are in its final stages, and several people stepped forward to participate in the same. But there has been no plan made with regards to distribution. Furthermore, companies in India have been trying to bring the vaccine to market and only after official confirmation and approvals, the central government and the state government will have full control over the procurement and supply, based on the right amount of protocol, Tope added.

These trials mark the first time in Maharashtra, where work is underway to prepare a list of people to be vaccinated against COVID-19, and as per the norms of the state government, the leaders in politics do not come under the priority of coronavirus warriors who work tirelessly, day and night, to ensure safety among the public. As per plans, the vaccine will first be given to doctors, police, health workers and other COVID-19 workers, concluded Minister Tope.
