Maratha Kranti Morcha protestors informed that they will not call for Mumbai bandh as it affects the common man. They settled on thiyya andolan after setting up a meeting with police officials.

On Thursday, August 9, 2018, we will start protesting outside Bandra’s Collector office around 11:00 am. We assure all that there will be no violence,” Virendra Pawar, member, Maratha Kranti Morcha.

Prior to this, on July 25, 2018, Marathi outfit groups had carried out a protest across Maharashtra along with Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai. The protest became violent when one of the protestors committed suicide demanding reservation for the Maratha community in jobs and education. The protestors started pelting stones on police personnel and also torched bus and police vans.
