While being adamant on party’s stand against felling of trees in Aarey, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Monday said that the metro 3 car shed proposed by the Maharashtra government will go down like the Nanar oil refinery project.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had to face huge opposition from its ally – Shiv Sena – over the oil refinery project which was supposed to be set up at Nanar in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra. However, the ₹3 crore project had to be moved from the region after locals and Shiv Sena protested.
"What happened in Nanar project will happen with Aarey,” Uddhav Thackeray said in his first comment on the ongoing issue. However, his son – Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray – has joined the “Aarey Bachao (Save Aarey)” movement while stating that felling of trees in Aarey will have a negative impact.

Shiv Sena has been opposing the decision taken by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Tree Authority’s decision to cut down 2,700 trees in Aarey colony.
