The milk blockade has entered the third day, yet Hatkanangale constituency MP and Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) leader Raju Shetti has pledged not to withdraw ‘milk blockade’ movement until the state government does not meet dairy farmers’ demands and give a subsidy of ₹5 to the same.

In the last two days, many dairy farmers have been spilling milk on the roads to mark the protest. Along with this, SSS party workers have been stopping all the milk tankers near the Gujarat border and are not letting them pass.

To make the protest more effective, Shetti took to the roads by himself to stop the milk tankers from entering the city and other parts of Maharashtra. Shetti, who had been waiting on the Gujarat border, missed out  on a few milk tankers, which are now on their way to Mumbai. In order to stop them, he left for Dahanu and has been waiting there since Tuesday morning.

The protest which began on July 16, 2018, still continues with dairy farmers spilling milk on the road. In many places, SSS party workers were seen stopping tankers, setting the tyres on fire and many such incidents were reported. Meanwhile, a meeting will take place on Thursday between Shetti and government officials.

On the other hand, the state government is trying their best to supply milk to Mumbai by using other alternatives. However, the party workers are not giving up on their protest, due to which, the state government is now adding milk tankers via railways.
