Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray initiated his state-wide campaign from Vasai’s Palghar and told the farmers to fight against the land acquisitions. Thackeray appealed to the farmers asking them to not give their lands for the proposed Mumbai-Vadodara Expressway and the bullet train project.

The Maharashtra government needs to acquire thousands of hectares of private land for the proposed developmental projects. To this, Thackeray urged the people to retain their property and wronged the government for trying to remove the locals from their native places.

He said, “Today is Maharashtra Day! Today, Marathi speaking got their own state and the recognition of their language. Many people have sacrificed their lives for this state. Today is a day to remember all of them! Jai Maharashtra!”
