Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday lashed out at the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government and alleged that the state would have averted the COVID-19 crisis if the leaders from the ruling parties had discussed the problems.

Responding to the rebuttals made by the MVA government, Fadnavis said that the ministers representing ruling allies including Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena should have sat together to discuss the problems of the people instead of discussing a strategy to counter him.

“It is surprising to see so many cabinet ministers locking themselves for hours in a meeting to discuss issues raised by me,” the senior BJP leader said while adding that it was evident that the MVA leaders held a discussion to counter revelations made by the opposition BJP regarding aids received from the centre.

On Tuesday, Fadnavis attacked the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government and claimed that the centre has provided the state government with more than ₹28,000 crores.

However, while addressing a presser, Maharashtra Transport Minister Anil Parab refuted the claims made by Fadnavis and said that the Maharashtra government was supposed to receive ₹42,000 crores from the central government but has got nothing so far.

In the press conference on Wednesday, Anil Parab was accompanied by Maharashtra Water Resource Minister Jayant Patil and Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat.

Reacting to this, Fadnavis said that one person was enough to speak the truth but when you have to bluff even three can’t accomplish the task.

“There is a dashboard that clearly shows the help provided by the central government to every state. On May 26, it said that the centre had provided Maharashtra with 9.88 lakh PPE kits and 16 lakh N 95 masks. Moreover, ₹468 crores were given to the state to purchase PPE kits,” he alleged.

The MVA leaders earlier said that the government had expected support from the opposition but the opposition was trying to destabilise the government.
