Amid Sanatan Sanstha’s event to honour its spokesperson Sanjeev Punalekar, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) workers on Monday protested against the organisation and black flags were raised during the agitation.

The saffron outfit organised an event at Marathi Patrakar Sangh in South Mumbai to honour its lawyer and spokesperson Sanjeev Punalekar. NCP workers under the leadership of Vidya Chavan protested against the same.

Frustrated with NCP’s demonstration, Sanatan Sanstha members also retaliated with slogans which escalated into a clash between two parties. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut was also invited to the event to honour Punalekar.

Sanatan Sanstha has been named in the murder of activists including Dr Narendra Dabholkar, Govind Pansare, MM Kalburgi, and Gauri Lankesh. Despite the arrest of its members in the murders of the activists, why are the lawyers and spokesperson of this saffron outfit being honoured?” NCP leader Vidya Chavan told Mumbai Live.

Chavan further added that honouring murderers is not their culture and they won’t let this happen. The NCP leader also criticised Shiv Sena MP and said, “Raut is not in his sense, how can he honour these people?”
