Senior NCP leader Ganesh Naik to join BJP along with 52 other corporators

In the last 20 years, Ganesh Naik has been in power in Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. According to sources, along with Naik, 52 NCP corporators will also join BJP

After Mumbai Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sachin Ahir joined Shiv Sena ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, in another setback to NCP, party’s senior leader Ganesh Naik is set to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Naik has been the former Guardian minister of Thane district. 

In the last 20 years, Ganesh Naik has been in power in Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Along with Naik, 52 NCP corporators will also join BJP.

Since inception, Ganesh Naik has remained in power in Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Of the 111 seats in the municipal corporation, NCP has 52 corporators and are supported by five independent corporators. Currently, Ganesh Naik is the senior-most leader in Navi Mumbai and has a stronghold in the area.

Meanwhile, Congress MLA Kalidas Kolambkar has also resigned from the party and will join BJP soon. Kolambkar has been a seven-time MLA from Wadala-Naigaon assembly constituency. Moreover, NCP’s former Maharashtra woman wing President Chitra Wagh might also join BJP after she resigned from the party.
