Mumbai – Narayan Rane, senior Congress leader who is known for his aggressive style of working, has reportedly planned to dump his party in near future. As per source, Rane is believed to have chalked a plan to get his elder son Nilesh inducted in the Shiv Sena and he himself is also waiting for the right time to stage another political explosion in the state.
Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray is said to be the biggest block in the way of Rane joining the Sena as he harshly criticised Thackeray in last few months. Thackeray had also paid him in the same coin. But looking at the changing political scenario in the state, Sena chief is building his organisation and Narayan Rane could be of immense help to him. If Rane defects Congress with his supporters then his entry in Sena is possible. An MLC considered close to Thackeray had reportedly met Rane twice at his Juhu residence to chalk out the conditions of his joining the Sena.
Joining Sena is not the only option before Rane as he kept other options ready. Rane’s recent meeting with chief minister Devendra Fadnavis indicates that he is positive on joining the BJP as well. BJP president Amit Shah had reportedly offered him the revenue ministry in return of his joining the BJP but Rane had rejected the offer. In present political scenario, the BJP has upper hand and that’s why Rane is in confusion which option to opt for. He may get a mahurat to join either of these parties on the auspicious occasion of Gudipadwa.
Rane’s son and former MP, Nilesh Rane, has also indicated this as he is trying to know the opinion of his supporters from Konkan. He had criticised the MPCC president and tendered his resignation from the post of MPCC general secretary recently. The reason given for this was the pending appointment of Congress unit president for Sindhudurg district. He had even given the time of 48 hours to MPCC president Ashok Chavan to take a decision on his demand.
Narayan Rane who has spent four decades in politics knows the skill of creating a favourable environment. Hence, he claimed that rumours of his joining another party are being circulated by his opponents in the Congress party. He is also trying to prove his loyalty to the Congress party by occasionally targeting the Shiv Sena and the BJP. The political analysts believe that Rane is trying to bag the position of MPCC president by proving his nuisance value.
