Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik lashed out at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the fake social media accounts used to defame Mumbai Police in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

The SSR death case was transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after pressure from the opposition and some news channel who claimed that the Mumbai Police was trying to hide something or saving someone.

On social media, several theories around the demise of Bollywood Actor Sushant Singh Rajput were doing round and discrediting Mumbai Police’s investigation in the case.

However, the medical board of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) ruled out the murder angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. The AIIMS Forensic Medical Board team labelled the demise of SSR as a case of hanging and death by suicide.

Reacting to this, Shiv Sena has already demanded an apology from politicians and news channels who defame Mumbai Police and Maharashtra government while Congress has demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe alleging that conspiracy to defame the state.

“You had to create 80,000 fake accounts (on social media) to defame the Mumbai Police, which protects the land of Maharashtra in which you live. However, Shiv Sena has selfless followers who will take on you in a single day,” Sarnaik tweeted.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh demanded an apology from the BJP for making allegations against the Mumbai Police. Deshmukh also said that action will be taken against social media accounts that had maligned Mumbai Police online. The Mumbai Police have been asked to prove the social media accounts, he added.
