The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is believed to have distanced itself from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), zonal director Sameer Wankhede, highlighted reports. On Tuesday, BJP MLA Ashish Shelar addressed a press conference at Bandra, wherein he stated that it isn’t the party’s duty to provide a character certificate to Wankhede.

Based on accounts, Shelar elaborated on how they completely support the NCB in their steps against the use and sale of drugs, in spite of it being in small quantities, stating that action should be undertaken.

Shelar also mentioned minister Nawab Malik, stating that Malik has been making statements since the Aryan Khan case, but the details furnished by him are of the past. Shelar drew light on the fact that Malik’s son-in-law was arrested for the possession of drugs and was behind bars for eight months. Shelar believes that Malik was aware of the deals and has violated his oath of office by not apprising the Governor.

Some reports also state that Shelar is of the opinion that certain allegations made by Malik were serious in nature and therefore, he must be made to undergo a narco test. The war of words between the BJP and Malik has been doing rounds since the past few days with statements, earlier being made by Devendra Fadnavis, the former state Chief Minister.
