The NMC managed to take action against 47 huts in the Adarsh Nagar area of Govandi. These huts were built on a wide nullah where drainage water of Kamlanagar and Shahinaka areas used to get collected in larger amounts. Hence razing of these huts will now enable the smooth flow of water.

Although the work of widening of the Adarshnagar Nullah in Govandi complex, of East Mumbai Municipal Corporation, 'M' is going on, yet a number of huts in the Adarsh Nagar were right adjacent to the nullah, due to which had made the drain quite narrow in its area. Hence, the narrowing of the drain caused obstruction of water flow hence accumulating all the drained water.

The former assistant of department ‘M/East’, Srinivas Kilje that the MNPA had knocked down around 47 huts under the guidance of Bharat Marathe, the Circle -5 Deputy Commissioner. On this occasion, around 38 police personnel were set on duty so as to deal with any kind of unforeseen casualty.
