On Tuesday, May 3, Maharashtra DGP Rajnish Seth conducted a press conference wherein he brought to light that the state home minister, Dilip Walse Patil conducted a review meeting in regards to the law and order condition in the state.

Seth remarked that the Maharashtra police can handle any sort of law and order situation. He informed the media that the SRPF and Home Guards have been deployed in Maharashtra. In light of this, the police chief has urged all to maintain peace.

He was quoted saying that they have issued notices in considerable numbers. Seth reportedly added, "Preventative action has been taken against more than 15,000 people. Notice under section 149 CrPC has been given to over 13,000 people."

Seth also informed that the leaves of police personnel have been cancelled. This has reportedly been undertaken considering the present condition in the state. Moreover, heavy deployment of forces has been put across the state.

On being asked about MNS Chief Raj Thackeray's proactive speech at the recently held rally in Aurangabad, Seth voiced that the CP Aurangabad is looking at the videos of Thackeray's rally. Thus, if he finds anything objectionable in it, he will take action today. According to Seth, CP Aurangabad is capable of undertaking action against anyone.

Another topic that was touched upon during the press meet was the recent police seizure of a large cache of swords from a vehicle in a village of Dhule. The Maharashtra DGP elaborated that the seized swords were meant to be taken to Jalna

Seth voiced that not only have all the offenders been arrested, but an FIR has been registered and an investigation is underway.

Amid fears of recent communal tensions owing to the loudspeaker ultimatum given by the MNS Chief, Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray and Patil have conducted a meeting.
