Siddhivinayak Temple in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, is said to undergo structural repairs this year. An audit has revealed the cracks in the building. According to reports, the marble cladding has come loose and the petals on the dome need reinforcement.

The trustees are however yet to determine the cost of the project, the timeline or whether are temple will be completely or partially shut during the process of renovation. Aadesh Bandekar, speaking to the media stated that an e-tender has been authorized for the task.

The Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple Trust had earlier announced to sponsor the education of the children of Head Constable Sunil Kale of 182nd Battalion CRPF, who lost his life fighting bravely on June 23 during an operation in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. Sunil Kale was from Solapur, Maharashtra.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had asked the Ganpati mandals in the city to keep the height of the idols small and celebrate the 10-day Ganesh festival, beginning August 22, in a low-key fashioned way, in the past. There have been several restrictions placed on the festivities this year keeping in mind the coronavirus crisis. The pandals are also said to be smaller in size this year. Along with this, social distancing protocols are to be followed to help contain the spread of the contagious disease.

Swapnil Parab, secretary of the Lalbaug Sarvjanik Utsav Mandal speaking about the Ganeshotsav had stated that the idols are likely to be immersed in artificial lakes this year. He added that the CM had suggested that the heights of the idols be small so that they can be immersed in artificial lakes. In a state like Maharashtra, that is actively battling the COVID-19 crisis, it becomes very crucial for the people to avoid overcrowding and abide by the social distancing protocols in order to safeguard themselves and others.
