How did the bottles of liquor get inside the ministry whilst dodging the security system? Who exactly is the alliance government working for? Presenting such questions, BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Pravin Darekar has written a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. He has demanded a high-level inquiry into this and has asked that stern action be taken against those involved.

Based on reports, a pile of liquor bottles was found in a certain section of the ministry. Considering that no one is permitted to enter the ministry without a thorough check and pass, with the presence of CCTV cameras, how did the bottles end up inside has posed a serious question.

Minister of State for General Administration Dattatraya Bharane has promised to investigate the matter and take action against the culprits.

Pravin Darekar has also written a letter to the Chief Minister in this regard, wherein he states that the general public from all corners of the state want to come to the ministry with all sorts of questions, but are made to stand in lines for hours to get a ticket. From asking for an identity card to having to explain their nature of work, they are scrutinized. If there is a needle or a similar object in their bag, it is removed. Shockingly, bottles of liquor are found in the vicinity of a restaurant in the ministry at a time when so much care is taken in the case of the general public.

He has posed certain questions like, how did such a large number of liquor bottles reach the ministry when there was tight security? Where did they come from, who brought them and served alcohol in the ministry? All these matters need to be investigated seriously, he says.

Therefore, he believes that a committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary (Home), General Administration Department and other concerned departmental heads should inquire into this grave matter within 15 days to determine the responsibility of those concerned and take strict action against the culprits.

In this letter, Pravin Darekar has demanded that the report of the committee and the details of the action taken against the concerned should be made available to the people of Maharashtra.
