After a video of a mob trying to thrash a few policemen in Chembur went viral, Mumbai Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Nawab Malik accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and workers of the agitation.

Malik informed that nearly five policemen were injured in the incident and one of them is in critical condition while alleging that what happened was not an immediate act but people are being provoked for past five days amid the election time.

Local BJP leaders are playing with people’s feelings for their political gains. What happened with the police personnel is a result of that,” said senior NCP leader Nawab Malik.

The outrage against the police came after a girl, daughter of Kurla resident Panchram Rithdia, was kidnapped a few days ago. After the police failed to properly investigate, Panchram committed suicide and thousands of people who gathered at his funeral on Tuesday attacked the policemen present there.
