Security was placed outside lyricist Javed Akhtar’s Mumbai residence which is near the ISKCON temple in the Juhu area after BJP MLA of Maharashtra demanded an apology from him. According to a police official, Akhtar has compared Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) with the Taliban.

On Friday, which is not long ago Akhtar told a news channel, “The Taliban want an Islamic country. These people want to make a Hindu Rashtra,” without mentioning the RSS.

Ram Kadam who is a BJP MLA took on Twitter asking Akhtar to apologize for his remarks.

He even slammed Shiv Sena by saying that they are going in circles even after accepting that Javed Akhtar’s statement was wrong.

The current ruling party of the state, Shiv Sena, does not agree with the statement. They said that he was wrong to compare RSS with the Taliban.

‘Saamana’s editorial page said, “How can you say those who favour the concept of a Hindu Rashtra are of Talibani mindset? We don’t agree with this”. Saamana is a mouthpiece of Shiv Sena.

According to the media reports, the legislator from Mumbai has said that the films which involve Javed Akhtar will not be screened in the country until he apologies to the Sangh functionaries for his remarks.
