Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had earlier declared that they won’t contest 2019 Lok Sabha election but party chief Raj Thackeray has continued his campaign against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In an exclusive interview with Mumbai Live, MNS chief Raj Thackeray asserts that the major issue in this country is PM Modi and BJP President Amit Shah.

"Ae lav re to video (Ae, play that video)" , this call has become famous across social media. In his corporate style presentations, Thackeray is holding public rallies across Maharashtra speaking against the “false promises” made by PM Modi and his government.

When asked about the reason to campaign against BJP while MNS is not contesting LS poll, Thackeray replied, “Before coming to power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah made several promises to common people. However, all those promises were forgotten when they came to power. All that the people got in five years were false numbers and lies. People may forget about these things, but I haven’t.”

"With their “Acche Din” slogan, the BJP had started campaigning in 2014. However, now Modi and Shah are not speaking about start-up, Make in India, or creating two crore jobs annually in their campaigns. They are seeking votes in the name of soldiers who were martyred in Pulwama terror attack. Where did the “Acche din” go?” Raj Thackeray further questioned.

When asked whether he is upset with the poor performance of the government or the lies, Raj Thackeray said, “Modi started Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan but there is no cleanliness in the village that he adopted. This is what I showed through my video presentation. Modi claimed that he built 8.5 lakh toilets in one week. This means that they created 84 toilets in one minute. This should go into the Guinness book of world record.”

Raj Thackeray told Mumbai Live that Modi government has also intervened with the autonomy of the Supreme Court, the Reserve Bank, and other agencies such as Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). “Black money never came to the country but the industrialists fled the country taking money from government banks.”

In these elections, Raj Thackeray has launched an aggressive campaign against Modi and Shah which can affect the vote bank of the BJP. The other opposition including Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) may benefit from the same.
