As the positive cases for coronavirus or COVID-19 soars to 49 in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday urged the people to not step out of their homes in order to curb the spread of the deadly virus in the state. 

“The situation is not critical but it is worrisome,” Thackeray said. 

While addressing the public through Live stream in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, CM Thackeray urged the citizens across Maharashtra to support the government’s initiative and instructions. 

“This is a war and we can’t win a war with panic. The battle against the coronavirus outbreak has begun. Everyone on the frontline is fighting this. We all have to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary travelling. People should not step out of their homes,” CM Uddhav Thackeray said. 

The Maharashtra Chief Minister further informed that he has spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the coronavirus outbreak and he has assured full cooperation. 

“I have spoken to the Prime Minister, he has promised full cooperation from the Central Government,” Thackeray said in his Live streamed address. 

Moreover, CM Uddhav Thackeray pointed out that people are still going to their offices and urged them to work from home and follow instructions while adding that local trains and bus services travel has been reduced but the non-essential travel is still happening. 

“Why are people not working from home and following instructions? All places of worship including temples and churches are shut to avoid social gatherings, local trains and bus services travel has been reduced but I can still see that non-essential travel is still happening,” said Uddhav Thackeray. 

Speaking about Indian citizens from Maharashtra who are stuck in different countries due to the coronavirus pandemic, Uddhav Thackeray said that efforts are being made to rescue those stranded and arrangements will be made for their quarantine and isolation. 

Earlier, the Maharashtra government decided that private companies should allow their employees to work from home to curb the crowd in public transport. The Uddhav Thackeray government in Maharashtra informed that the government offices will remain functional but with 50 per cent attendance.
