On Tuesday, April 26, Mumbai Police Commissioner, Sanjay Pandey took to Twitter to share a video of MP Navneet Rana and her husband Ravi Rana drinking a beverage following her allegations about "inhumane treatment" at the Khar police station.

This development comes in the aftermath of Rana writing a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla mentioning about the harsh behaviour taken place during the judicial custody at Khar police station for being from a scheduled caste.

Later in the day, Pandey according to accounts elaborated on how newspapers show that the condition is critical but it is never so for the police, nor it is good. He says for them it is always critical.

He was quoted saying, "The police personnel and officers of Mumbai Police will handle the law and order situation."

He added if some citizens attempt to hinder the peace, then they will not fall short, instead, they will do all that they can to take care of the law.

Several political faces, such as Kirit Somaiya have been hurling allegations toward the Mumbai Police. On Tuesday, Somaiya had gone to the Khar police station to register an FIR for he claimed that the police circulated a fake FIR of the April 23 assault against him.

While interacting with the media outside the police station he alleged that the Police Commissioner refused to register his FIR under the directions of state Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray. He was quoted in narratives saying, "It is clear that the FIR registered against me earlier was bogus. The best example of forgery by the Mumbai Commissioner has been exposed today."

On the same day, Maharashtra Home Minister, Dilip Walse Patil while talking to the media persons said that not only is the Mumbai Police known for its good work, but the Maharashtra Police abides by the law and works in accordance with its responsibilities.

What started with MNS Chief Raj Thackeray giving an ultimatum to remove loudspeakers from mosques in the state by May 3, was taken ahead by the law-maker couple who declared that they would recite the Hanuman Chalisa outside Matoshree, the Thackeray residence.

Following the arrest of the couple, Somaiya visited the police stations, wherein he was reportedly attacked by Shiv Sainiks. With this, the Hanuman Chalisa row continues to cause heated tensions in Maharashtra.
