The repair work of Thane-Mumbra bypass road was supposed to begin from April 16 but finally, on May 8, the work of repairing the bypass road began, and the road will be shut for two months. Therefore, those who travel via Mumbai-Thane will have to face adversity for the next two months.
The road is a crucial part of the road network as it connects Mumbai, Thane and Kalyan to 40 thousand vehicles on a daily basis. Due to such a large number of vehicles using the road, the repair work was being delayed. Ten years back when the road was repaired, it was shut for four months. But in just a few years, the road has been damaged which has resulted in the road repair work.
The road has been completely shut down for vehicular traffic by installing barricades. Due to which on Tuesday night, there are possibilities of huge traffic congestions on the Airoli and Shilphata road.
The vehicles from Airoli are being diverted via Shilphata. The vehicles coming from Nashik and Gujarat towards JNPT harbour of Uran will be diverted from Thane, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan, Thane (Rural) and Palghar areas.
