After Sujay Vikhe Patil, the son of Maharashtra Opposition leader, left Congress and joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on March 12 in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil conducted a press conference on Thursday in Mumbai to talk about the same.

The senior Congress leader clarified that his son has himself decided to join BJP and Patil won’t campaign against his son. Moreover, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil said, “I have informed the Congress high command regarding the whole situation. Now, I’ll agree with whatever the party decides.”

While talking to the media, Patil expressed his discontent over the remarks made by Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar against his father Balasaheb Vikhe Patil. Patil said that Pawar’s remark triggered his son to join BJP.

I was hurt by Pawar’s remarks and it tells that he has no respect for me or my family and that is why I won’t go and campaign for NCP in Ahmednagar. I won’t campaign for anyone including my son,” the Congress leader asserted.

Patil further said that NCP had to face defeat three times during the elections in Nagar. If the seat was offered to Congress, it would have been beneficial. However, there were discussions regarding the same but NCP was adamant in its role.
