Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece, Saamana, was seen in flames on Sunday after Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) activists protested over the “offensive” remarks published against former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in their editorial.

In its editorial, Shiv Sena called Pawar “gutter worm” and “corrupt” while criticising him because, earlier, Pawar questioned Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray regarding the construction of the Bal Thackeray memorial.

Earlier, after Uddhav Thackeray announced that he will visit Ayodhya on November 25, Pawar said that despite being in power - from municipal to state level - Shiv Sena has failed to build Balasaheb Thackeray’s memorial.

The editorial published in ‘Saamana’ said that Ajit Pawar is valued in politics only because of his uncle, NCP leader Sharad Pawar.  Reacting to the editorial, Ajit Pawar lashed out at Uddhav Thackeray and said, “If I am valued in Politics because of my uncle, Uddhav Thackeray is visible because of his father.”

The NCP workers protested at Nalasopara burning the edition of Saamana for the “objectionable” criticism made by Shiv Sena against Ajit Pawar.
