After Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dumped Kirit Somaiya and named Manoj Kotak from Mumbai North-East Lok Sabha constituency, former Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam slammed Shiv Sena saying that Somaiya exposed Sena’s corruption and that’s why the BJP leader was denied the ticket.

Earlier, while forming an alliance with BJP in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena had said that if BJP fields Somaiya for Lok Sabha elections, they would work against him. Shiv Sena has been adamant in its opposition against Kirit Somaiya’s candidature.

Amid pressure from their allies, BJP replaced Somaiya’s candidature with Manoj Kotak who will be contesting from Mumbai North East seat. Nirupam, who is contesting LS polls from Mumbai North-West constituency, took to Twitter to attack Shiv Sena and BJP asking, “Will the CBI look into the accusations made by BJP leader Kirit Somaiya against Shiv Sena?”

Earlier in 2017, Somaiya took an aggressive stand against Shiv Sena its chief Uddhav Thackeray during Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. Somaiya called Uddhav Thackeray as ‘Bandra’s Mafia’ which didn’t go well with the Shiv Sena workers and leaders.
