Amid opposition yawp over Rafale deal row, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday attacked the Modi government and claimed Rafale deal as the “father of Bofors scam”.
Those who blamed Sonia Gandhi’s relatives in ₹65 crore Bofors scam are in power today and they are accused in a ₹700 crore Rafale jet scam,” Raut said in an article published on Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece Saamana.
The senior Shiv Sena leader said that the real question in regards to the Rafale deal is the increased price of each jet after Narendra Modi came to power. During the UPA government rule, each jet was priced at ₹527 crore but the number has increased to ₹1,570 crore. This means middlemen got a commission of about ₹1,000 crore per jet.

Former French President Francois Hollande also gave a statement in connection with the Rafale deal saying that the French government wasn’t given any choice but to choose Reliance Defence for the deal. Will Hollande be treated as an anti-national or a supporter of Rahul Gandhi?” Raut wrote in the article.
Opposition parties have attacked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government under the leadership of Congress over the Rafale deal. However, the government has denied these allegations and is not ready to expand details on the deal.
