After the political tussle between Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is out in the open, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari took a ‘U’ turn on Tuesday in a press conference and asserted that coalition should remain with the Shiv Sena. Commenting on the relation with Shiv Sena, Union Minister said, “We cannot live together but also we cannot live without each other.”

Gadkari, in the press conference, addressed issues causing trouble to the commoners from last 15 days including the hike in petrol and diesel prices followed by Palghar Lok Sabha by-election, and four years of BJP government.

Speaking on the closure of EVMs during the polling in Palghar district, Gadkari said that this is a serious matter and Election commission should look into the matter. Reaction to the allegations made by the opposition on BJP over this issue, Gadkari said that when Congress won in Punjab there was no question over the reliability of EVMs but with their loss in Uttar Pradesh EVM has become unreliable.

Offering his take on the fuel price hike, Gadkari further added that Goods and Service Tax (GST) will help reduce the hike and it will benefit the states, and the efforts are being made to bring fuel under GST, for which GST council will take a decision soon.

Speaking on the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ audio clip released by Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray in a public rally, Gadkari assured that the CM never meant to say that he would use his power to win elections as he is well-cultured.
