MNS leader Rakesh Patil killed in Ambernath

Patil was stabbed to death over alleged property dispute in Ambernath around 6:00 PM. The police informed that he was attacked by four persons with a sharp weapon.

A Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader was killed by four unidentified persons on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Rakesh Patil who was the Vice-President of MNS’ Ambernath unit. 

Patil was stabbed to death over alleged property dispute in Ambernath around 6:00 PM. The police informed that he was attacked by four persons with a sharp weapon. Patil was on his way to Pale village in Ambernath when the attack happened. 

The police informed that Patil was rushed to a private hospital in Kalyan where he was declared dead. The 37-year-old was badly injured due to the attack. The police have registered a murder case and have detained four suspects. 

According to media reports, Patil was planning to contest the municipal elections and was working towards building his base among people. The police have said that they aren’t ruling out the property dispute angle or political rivalry. 

Earlier, Shiv Sena leader Rahul Shetty was shot dead in Lonavala. He was the son of former Shiv Sena leader Umesh Shetty and served as the chief of party’s local unit in Lonavala. The police nabbed a suspect and are further investigating the matter.

According to the initial probe, Shetty was shot twice in the head and once in the chest. The Shiv Sena leader had informed the Lonavala city police station that his life was under threat. It should be mentioned that his father was also shot dead nearly 35 years ago.
