Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recovers from coronavirus

After testing positive, the Union Minister isolated himself and had appealed those who came in contact with him to follow the protocol.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has recovered from the coronavirus and is in stable condition. Gadkari was tested positive for COVID-19 on September 16. 

After testing positive, the Union Minister isolated himself and had appealed those who came in contact with him to follow the protocol. Gadkari is the Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) in the Narendra Modi cabinet. 

As many MPs tested positive for the coronavirus, the monsoon session of Parliament concluded on September 23. It was scheduled to end on October 1. Recently, Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu also tested positive for the coronavirus and is under home quarantine. His wife Usha Naidu also underwent COVID-19 test and her reports have come negative.

The number of coronavirus cases in the country including Maharashtra has been increasing on a daily basis. Till now, 15 cabinet ministers in the Uddhav Thackeray government have tested positive for the coronavirus. 

On Tuesday, Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant took to Twitter to inform that he has been tested COVID-19 positive and is under home-quarantine. 

Recently, Maharashtra Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde, Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad, Minister of State (MoS) for Water Resources and Education, Bacchu Kadu were tested positive for the coronavirus. However, Gaikwad has defeated coronavirus and made a full recovery. On Monday, she tested negative for COVID-19 and was discharged from the hospital.

Earlier, Jitendra Awhad, Ashok Chavan, Dhananjay Munde, Aslam Shaikh, Balasaheb Patil, Sanjay Bansode, Sunil Kedar, Abdul Sattar and Vishwajit Kadam, Nitin Raut and Hasan Mushrif from the Uddhav Thackeray government tested positive for the coronavirus.
