Over 37,000 Ganesh idols immersed on Day 5

On the fifth day of Ganesh festival, September 14, a total of 37,439 Ganesh idols were immersed in water bodies across Mumbai till 9 pm, with no untoward incident being reported for anywhere so far, a BMC official said.

A civic official also stated that of the 37,439 Ganapati idols that were immersed, 328 were ''sarvajanik'' or public ones and 33,351 were household ones, with 19,544 idols, comprising 17,344 domestic and 185 Sarvajanik ones, being immersed in artificial ponds.

Ganpati 2021: Mumbaikars Make Use Of Artificial Ponds For Immersion Of Lord Ganesha Idols

An 8 building, Prathamesh Complex with nearly 320 flats in Veera Desai Road extension Andheri West hosts about 20-25 household Ganapati idols. In view of the coronavirus pandemic, the residents of the society came together and built an immersion pond for idols in the complex.

30,000 Ganesh idols immersed in Mumbai on Saturday, September 11

According to reports, nearly 30,000 Ganesh idols were immersed in Mumbai lakes and other artificial reservoirs on Saturday, September 11, which marked the second day of the Ganpati festival. 

The police officer said that no untoward incident was reported from anywhere. He also stated that the immersion of the Ganesh idol started on Saturday afternoon. Of the total idols that were immersed include, idols of 232 public pandals and 28,794 were from houses.
